Ouch.

I've been in pain for a long time. Every single day, I hurt like hell. It makes me grumpy. I've been to the chiropractor, gone to physical therapy, had MRIs and x-rays done, and gone to a neurologist (which says a lot for a person how abhors going to doctors). Nothing.

Last week, I got a massage at True Massage and Wellness (highly recommended if you have chronic pain) in the city. There, I met my savior. After talking to me and massaging me, she mentioned that she thought my pain sounded/seemed connected to the sternocleidomastoid, and she recommended that I check out The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook

It came in the mail today. The symptoms created by the sternocleidomastoid trigger points are:
tilted head (every school picture since kindergarten)
cold sweat on the forehead (I though I was consistently hyperventilating)
headaches over the eye
toothache in back molars (the dentist thought I was crazy)
dizziness
nausea
arm pain
what appears to be swollen lymph nodes
propensity for falling (hee hee)
hearing loss
ear pressure/ringing
jaw pain
blurry vision
chronic cough (remember when I had "the TB"?)

With the exception of hearing loss, I experience each of these symptoms, most of them on an almost-daily basis.I really started to freak out when, a few weeks ago, I went to the doctor with a swollen lymph node, cold sweats, and remarkable dizziness, and she told me I was just getting sick. I never got sick.  Good news: I'm not dying.

It's so comforting to begin to understand what's going on with my neck. Now I can help to correct behaviors and apply pressure to the trigger points that are causing my pain. It's really amazingly freeing to know that my symptoms are probably all related.

I'm always saying, "There's something very wrong with me." Now I know it's really not that bad, and I can help to fix it.

I love finding the solutions to my medical problems (although the solution for me is forgetting about it because they are usually not real). haha
I'm glad you found some help!

I'm glad you don't really have the black lung and that you're not dying. :) Hooray!

i'm sorry for the chronic pain, but i'm happy that it isn't something terribly serious. it's great that you can relieve the pain yourself with pressure. good job not dying!

That's awesome that you were able to find an answer. I have my appointments with the neurologist, some sort of surgeon and an MRI all scheduled for this week. Hopefully I'll find the root of my problem as well. If not, I'll need to get more info on the place you went!
