From the mouths of babes (or hormonal high school students)

  • [Topic: "Can a person be in “true love” more than once?"]I honestly don’t know. I have never been in “true” love. Is “true” love even possible? Or is it just a theme for plays and movies? Is it stupidity to a huge degree? Or is it something else? I really don’t know. Today we get out at 11:40 again! And next week is 4 days then 1 week off! I might be “in love” with the new schedule!!!
  • In English we returned to archetypes. I also learned that a new essay will be assigned today. One can only imagine the joy I felt at that moment.
  • Me: Macbeth thinks he’s safe because the witches tell him he will be safe until Birnam Woods move to Dunsinane Hill. Forests don't move, so he’s thinking, “Sweet! I’m good!”
  • Girl: What about tornadoes! Tornadoes make that happen!
  • Me: True; Macbeth should watch for tornadoes.
  • Me Later: What is the third reason Macbeth is feeling confident about his fate?
  • Kid: He knows forests don’t get up and move; except for tornadoes, of course.
  • Me: Except for tornadoes.
  • Girl: Hey! That’s totally a reference to me! I’m practically famous!
  • Me: Right.
  • Kid 1: I don’t think Romeo is romantic at all. He doesn’t even know Juliet. He’s just trying to get in her pants!
  • Kid 2: He definitely wanted to get in Rosaline’s pants; that’s all he could talk about!
  • Kid 3: Well, technically, he was trying to get in her dress.
  • Kid 1: Good point.
  • Me [no longer able to pretend I'm not listening]: Uncontrollable laughter
