Peaceful

A friend (whose opinion I hold dear) suggested that I explore manifestations of Christianity outside of the evangelical movement. His suggestion confirmed an urging of my own heart.

I finally acted on it. Today I attended Peace Lutheran Church. No doubt, this church experiences and expresses Christianity much differently from any church I've attended.

The focus seems to be on the peace that can be found in fulfilling spiritual urges. It's not about knowing the right answer, pointing out the ills of others, or winning souls. It's about noticing that we have souls and worshipping a God who cares about our spirits. It's about letting the truth speak for itself.

I like it.

Thanks for inviting us today. I liked it, too.

That's a great idea. A Tyler idea?
I've been attending an Anglican church while living here in Wheaton (stem off the African church, not England). It's a great church, and I enjoy attending for this time in my life. I don't think I"ll always go Anglican, but it's a nice option for now.

I went to the web site and loved what I saw. I appreciate the elements that they bring to worship and would love to hear the children dropping stones. I think it is helpful in worship to experience and use the senses that God gives us to participate in the acts of formal worship. Especially if it serves to remind me of the grace He provides and doesn't make me feel I'm doing these things to earn His favor. We already have His favor through His grace and actions on the cross.I would like to hear more about this place and how it helps or doesn't help you.

Did you go back to this church on Easter? How was the service?

Thanks for your feedback, Chappy and Roxanna.

Bekah, I was in Chicago (visiting Stephanie and family) for Easter, so I went to church there. The Palm Sunday service was beautiful, as I'm sure the Easter service was.

I'm sure Chicago was much more fun! I can tell by your (and Steph's) blog!

That sounds lovely. I'm married to a Catholic. It was really hard at first, but I'm realizing that across the denominations we're more alike than we are different. It's all about Jesus.
I'm not sure I'm making sense, as I don't sleep these days (er, nights). :) I miss you though, and I'm sad I didn't get to see you again before we moved.
