I'm feeling overwhelmed by our state's budget crisis. The talk of the crisis was one thing, but my friends (who are incredible educators) getting laid off with nowhere else to go is an entirely different matter. Next year, the cuts will be twice as deep. My job will be in jeopardy, even though I will have been teaching in the district for five years. I can't even begin to imagine how large our classes will be.
On Friday I will be wearing pink, as I think about my friends who received "pink slips" this week. Will you join us?

I will be wearing pink. I'm ashamed of the low priority this state places on education. It makes me sick to my stomach.
It's a pretty messy time in our economy right now, it stinks. I'll be wearing pink way over here in Hawaii! :)
