No turning back

Today is the last day of summer. I'm so excited to go back to work. Maybe giddy is a better word. My principal just E-mailed me to ask if I would mentor our new English teacher. I'm honored.

I found this journal I wrote my first month of teaching. I thought it was cute:

I'm a TEACHER! That's right--they entrust 70 little freshman minds to me each day! I love it! They're goofy, inappropriate, and eager-- I swoon!

I go to school each morning with an eager feeling in my stomach; I can't wait to discover what the day holds :) I come home exhausted, but full.
Since I didn't teach summer school this summer, I'm coming back excited. Rested. Passionate.

I wish I felt like you do right now. Maybe I shouldn't teach summer school next year :) I just got your email today. I only check that account like once a month. sorry. Anyway, you're incognito again.

I wish I felt giddy! My school didn't even know who I was when I arrived today, they haven't hired the "regular ed" teacher for my class yet, my credential hasn't posted so I have to work as a substitute for myself! UGH!!! I sure hope it gets better when I meet the kids on Monday!

You guys are making me feel a little guilty. I promise you that, when I worked summer school, I definitely wasn't excited to go back. Teachers need summers off (if it's financially possible).

Are you still doing the early intervention program? I hope they're at least cute:)
