I was quietly going about my business grading notebooks. I was reveling in their sweet, end-of-the-year compliments about how much they've learned and how much fun they had. Then I read the following Quick Write. The topic? "Why are parent/child relationships so difficult?"
"What makes parent/child relationships so difficult is the fact that incest is illegal (and gross). I am kind of upset that you would ever ask me a question like that because I find it really gross. When I say gross, I mean really, really gross. The grossest thing I've ever heard of."

Looks like you really taught this kid something this year- hmm. How strange that his/her mind when in the direction that it did. We wanna know what your comment/response was.
He was kidding. He's hilarious. And brilliant. I wrote, "Oh, [insert student's name]." I write that or "Hmm" all over this kid's notebook.
I'm totally going to school to copy the final right now (that means I finished creating it/typing it!) and then I have grading and I'm set for tomorrow! Phew. I'm so getting there!!
I hate kids.
lol
hope your last day of school goes well!
You have a kid who readily thinks outside of the box. Very cool. I am sure he/she will push his/her philosophy professors to their limits should they go to college. Glad to see your nearly done!
