Day one in a regular class:
Glazed eyes
One obnoxious "class clown"
Insecurity
An after-class straggler with a question
Day one in an honors class:
Eager hands
Confident thinkers
Respect
Many questions
I love my classes (all freshman honors this semester). Honors is rad. The kids (for the most part) are actually into the curriculum. They ALL turned in their summer homework and couldn't wait to discuss Of Mice and Men.
They ask silly questions such as "Should we skip lines between our writing?" and "Do you prefer handwriting or printing?" and "Which side of the paper should I write my name on?" Yet, I like them. They're cute.
Evening one after teaching a regular class:
Exhaustion from fear of budding behavior issues
Preparation for the next day's lesson
Excitement about making a difference
Evening one after teaching an honors class:
Energy
Stacks of summer assignments to grade
Excitement about education

Day One of me deciding to check Sherry's blog more often:
A warm fuzzy in my heart.
A familiar feeling of loss.
The hope that she'll email soon.
A feeling of guilt that I haven't emailed her.
The memory that I only have 4 more years before the deadline, at which time we'll get married.
Wait, I just needed TUMS. But the rest is real.
