I’ve never been a T.V. watcher. I’m a talker, a reader, a time waster, a cleaner, and a scrapbooker- anything but a T.V. watcher. I didn’t have cable for the first 4 months of living in my apartment and I didn’t really miss is. Then, one day, I decided that I wanted to watch the Today Show when I got ready in the morning (I forgot that college days are over and the Today Show hasn’t started by the time I leave the house). So, I ordered basic cable- we’re talking about 10 stations for $15.00 a month. I thought, “I throw away $15.00 a month; I can swing this.”
So, I’ve never been a T.V. watcher, but I’ve also never lived alone. The “idiot box” has become my best friend. Tonight, I recognized my low when I couldn’t drag myself away from Dr. Phil. Dr. Phil for God’s sake! I’m addicted. I probably spend two (precious) hours a day in front of my ol’ television. Since the Comcast guy came (and broke my new candle holder), my bookmark has not moved in my Kerouac novel. Something needs to change.
