Commercial....

Have you heard the current Kaiser Permanente commercials? I love them. They’re reminiscent of the “Wear Sunscreen” song from back in the day. Every time I hear one on the radio, I want to change my health insurance to Kaiser. They make me believe that the people at Kaiser are passionate about health. This is the commercial for Sherry’s life inspired by the folks at Kaiser.

My name is Sherry Lynn McGowan. I am a product of a broken home. I believe divorce shatters children’s security and that alcohol is embarrassing. I believe children should be protected and cherished.

I am passionate about education and I am sure that ignorance is the antithesis of bliss. We must know so that we can act. I stand upon the belief that apathetic bystanders are as guilty as active oppressors. Compassion is proactive.

I believe in an infinitely glorious and beautiful God. I trust that he is unknowable, but I revel in the joy of the pursuit. I sometimes forget He exists.

I treasure honesty. I prefer the company of seekers to that of preachers. I’m attracted to humility.

I know the power of words. Journaling, literature, letter-writing, and conversation are four of my greatest loves. I believe words can lead to freedom, understanding, and deep hurt. I teach the power of words.

I believe in nature. I see it as a gift to be explored and discovered. Sunshine and thunderstorms are equally powerful. Discovery is an art form.

I’m afraid hospitality is diminishing. I believe clean sheets, candles, blankets, the smell of hot apple cider, and sparkling bathrooms make a home comfortable. I want friends and strangers alike to feel comfortable helping themselves to a glass of water. I don’t think a guest should ever have to use his own towel.

I want to be a beautiful hippy lady. I imagine myself with a nose ring, bangle bracelets, and long curly hair. I want to eat only natural foods and study in the park. I will rally for the oppressed.

I am tired, lonely, and empty. I hope it will pass.

I totally agree with that towel thing. I always forget to bring one, and I appreciate when people let me use one of theirs, especially when they are specifically guest towels. But don't switch to Kaiser, they are bad news.
