Lately, I’ve been surrounded by newborn babies. Christmas takes on a whole new meaning as I look into the face of a new life. This is the first year that I’ve really considered Mary’s impression of the Christ Child. What was going through her mind as He wrapped His little hand around her finger? How could she begin to comprehend that the little guy in her arms was the One? This year the baby in the manger has really come alive…I imagine what He was like as I hold the newborn boys in my life. We think of babies as meek and helpless and, although this is true, they are also remarkably powerful. A baby can totally turn a person’s world upside down- he changes their perspective, he unites families, he gives life greater meaning. It is significant that Jesus came as a newborn baby- the amalgamation of power and humility. What a joy it is to meditate on that holy infant!

Want to go to lunch in SF Tuesday with Annette and Melissa? They're visiting and I'm not comfortable going to the city by myself to meet up with them. I'll call you tomorrow :-)

Wait, what baby came alive? A Nativity baby Jesus? That's creepy Sherry, I am surprised you remained so calm.....was there no warning?
Pete, I laughed (all by myself, mind you) for a good two minutes at your post. Thanks for making me smile.
